The challenge
Plan Attainment tells us how many of our planned tons were mined. Plan Adherence tells us if those tons were mined from the correct location. Mining in the correct location allows the Process Plant to maximize the recovery of gold. It also reduces unnecessary equipment movement in the pits and keeps our Drills, Dozers, Loaders and Haul Trucks synchronized. Eliminating unplanned equipment movements also creates a safer working environment.
The IAMALLIN Team created an Opportunity Matrix to define and rank reasons for variance such as equipment downtime and how we manage water in the pits due to the heavy rainfall in Suriname. More than a dozen reasons for variance were ranked based on the impact to moving tons and producing gold ounces.
These challenges are topics of focus in our daily leadership meetings and shared in our shift lineout meetings. Members of Planning, Operations, and Maintenance are now conducting weekly trips through the pits, working as one team, to ensure we manage our challenges as soon as possible and to escalate decisions if needed.
